## Which devices run Grok Bot

Grok Bot has desktop apps for macOS (Apple silicon and Intel), Windows (x64 and Arm64) and Linux (x64 and Arm64), and mobile apps for iPhone on iOS 18 or later, iPad on iPadOS 18 or later, and Android 9 or later. Every app connects to the same cloud computer, so your Bots, conversations and routines sync across devices and keep working when the app is closed; the October 11 changelog adds that pinned Bots now sync between desktop and phone. The docs list no browser version.

The docs give processor architectures but no minimum macOS or Linux version. The More downloads list on x.ai/bot, checked October 7, describes the Windows build as Windows 10 and 11 (x64); the docs and Cursor's download page also offer a Windows Arm64 installer.

| Platform | Supported builds | Where to get it | Main limits |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| macOS | Apple silicon or Intel | x.ai/bot or Cursor's download page | None documented beyond the general ones below |
| Windows | Windows 10 and 11; x64, or Arm64 from Cursor's download page | x.ai/bot or Cursor's download page | None documented beyond the general ones below |
| Linux | x64 or Arm64 as .deb, .rpm or AppImage | More downloads on x.ai/bot, or Cursor's download page | Hardware security keys not yet supported; update to 0.70.2 or later if the app froze while a notification was showing |
| iPhone | iOS 18 or later | Grok Bot on the App Store | Editing routines and test runs need desktop |
| iPad | iPadOS 18 or later | The same App Store app runs on iPad | Same as iPhone |
| Android | Android 9 or later | Grok Bot on Google Play | Same as iPhone; the share sheet accepts text only |

## Where to download Grok Bot

Use the official pages only. The x.ai/bot page offers the build for your computer, with every other platform under More downloads: Windows 10 and 11 (x64), iPhone and iPad on the App Store, Android phones and tablets on Google Play, Intel Macs, and Linux as .deb, AppImage or .rpm for x64 and arm64. Cursor's download page at cursor.com/download/bot lists every installer, including Windows Arm64 and each Linux format for both architectures.

The mobile apps are Grok Bot on the App Store and ai.x.grok.bot on Google Play, separate from the Grok chatbot app. If your Cursor account already includes Grok Bot, sign in with it; Cursor's help says not to buy a second subscription in the app, and that only monthly individual plans are sold there. Plans and prices are in our [plan and pricing guide](https://www.grokbotwiki.com/guides/grok-bot-which-plan).

## Desktop: install the right build

Since 0.65.0 (September 30) Automatic Updates is on by default, so Grok Bot restarts to apply updates while you are away; turn it off in Settings → Updates, where Check for Updates forces a check. Cursor's help says Grok Bot requires an update when your version is more than 14 days old and a newer one is out; on Linux that screen may give you an apt or dnf command to copy instead. To see your version, open the account menu, then Support, then About. If an update does not stick, Cursor's help says to download the latest build from the Grok Bot page of your Cursor dashboard and install it over the app; your Bots and chats belong to your account. The app and the cloud computer update separately: updating the desktop app does not reset the cloud computer, which has its own Update control in the same section.

On September 18 a user reported that the direct Windows x64 link for version 0.57.0 returned Access Denied. Cursor staff shared the 0.56.1 installer and said they were tracking the problem. If a direct link fails, start again from the download page rather than an old link.

1. Mac: Apple menu → About This Mac shows Chip for Apple silicon or Processor for Intel. Open the disk image, drag Grok Bot to Applications, and choose Open if macOS asks. Since 0.66.0, a copy running from the disk image or Downloads offers Move to Applications. Since 0.78.1 (October 27), on an Apple silicon Mac the Intel version of Grok Bot offers to download the Apple silicon version.
2. Windows: Settings → System → About → System type shows x64 or Arm64. Run the installer, then open Grok Bot from the Start menu.
3. Linux: run uname -m; x86_64 means x64 and aarch64 means Arm64. Install the .deb or .rpm with your package manager, or make the AppImage executable and run it.
4. Choose Sign in, finish Cursor authentication in the browser, and return to the app. If your access comes from SuperGrok, link it when the app asks.

## iPhone, iPad and Android: what works and what doesn't

The mobile app connects to the same Bots, conversations, routines, connectors and shared computer as desktop. From a phone you can message Bots, dictate, start a voice chat, attach photos and files, mention Bots in group chats, take over the computer for a password or CAPTCHA, create Bots and groups, install plugins, and approve or discard drafted emails and Slack messages.

The limits: testing a routine needs the desktop app. On a phone you can pause, resume and delete routines, the mobile docs (read October 30, 2026) say Add routine on a Bot's profile starts a new one, and Edit routine opens the Bot's chat with a draft request, so you describe the change and the Bot makes it. Updating, recovering or resetting the cloud computer is desktop-only too. Some advanced desktop controls and teach-by-demonstration are not on mobile. Shared Bots (formerly Team Bots) can be chatted with on a phone but are created, published and connected to Slack on desktop. On iPhone the share sheet sends photos, files, links and text into a chat; on Android it currently accepts text only. Cursor's help lists 12 languages on the phone against 37 on desktop. Since 0.75.5, Settings → Vault, for saved logins, cards and contact info, is on the phone as well as desktop. Cursor's secrets help, checked October 29, notes one phone bug: on Grok Bot for iPhone 1.18.0 with iOS 26 or later, a new login in Settings → Vault shows no Save button, which is fixed in iPhone 1.19.0 as it rolls out on the App Store; until you update, add the login from the desktop app or from the Secure Form the Bot shows in chat. Cursor's Shared Bots help says sharing and browsing shared Bots on the phone also need 1.19.0 on iPhone and Android.

The mobile docs, read October 30, 2026, also describe a feature no changelog entry has announced yet: in your own chat with a Bot you own, the Bot can use some apps on your phone while Grok Bot is open on it. On iPhone and Android it can read and change Calendar events (not repeating ones, and it never invites anyone), look people up in Contacts without changing them, read the phone's current position, and set a one-off alarm up to 24 hours ahead or a timer; on iPhone it can also manage Reminders and Apple Home accessories, including locks, garage doors and security systems. It does not work in group chats, in Slack or with a shared Bot someone else owns. Each app needs your phone's permission, given ahead of time under Settings → Connect apps or when the chat shows a Grok Bot needs permission card, and Settings → Bot → Manage your devices lists the phones and computers where you use Grok Bot. A team admin's limit on local execution applies to phones too. We have not tried it.

Android arrived on September 2, 2026, according to Cursor's forum announcement. If your access comes from SuperGrok, the mobile access screen offers Link Grok Account and then Finished Linking? Refresh My Status.

## What differs between desktop platforms

The three desktop apps share one feature set in the docs, with a few documented differences.

- [ ] Hardware security keys: the Bot's browser can use a key plugged into your desktop. The setting is on by default on macOS and Windows and not yet supported on Linux.
- [ ] Local computer access: a Bot runs commands on the computer in front of you only when Execution on Local Computer allows it. The default is Ask every time, and the docs describe it for Mac and Windows.
- [ ] Shortcuts use Cmd on macOS and Ctrl on Windows and Linux; dictation is Cmd/Ctrl+D and Settings is Cmd/Ctrl+,.
- [ ] Several saved accounts, with Switch account and Add account, are a desktop feature. The October 11 changelog says switching accounts now lands within seconds even when another account's computer is asleep.
- [ ] On a Mac, View → View Unread shows only Bots with unread messages (changelog, October 11).
- [ ] Notifications: since 0.71.2 (October 14, on 0.70.2 or later), while you use Grok Bot on a Mac or Windows PC, replies and questions from Bots you own notify you there instead of on your phone. The docs say a Bot that needs your input still notifies your phone about 3 minutes later unless you open it first. On Linux, notifications are suppressed while Grok Bot is focused and your phone is notified as usual.
- [ ] 1Password: the changelog's 0.77.0 entry (October 26) says that on Windows and Linux the Bot now notices an installed 1Password app and can offer to connect it, and that 1Password connects without a shared vault on Grok Bot 0.68.0 or later; the glossary's Mac-only note dates from 0.53.0.
- [ ] Languages and time zones: 0.77.0 adds Português (Portugal) to the app's languages, relabels Brazilian Portuguese as Português (Brasil), and adds Europe/Kyiv to the time zone picker.

## One account and one allowance on every device

Your plan and usage do not depend on the device. Cursor's billing page says macOS and iOS share a single usage bucket tied to your Cursor account, because both apps call the same backend. If you subscribed in the iOS or Android app, Cursor says to set on-demand usage on the web. Plans and prices are in our [plan and pricing guide](https://www.grokbotwiki.com/guides/grok-bot-which-plan), Windows sign-in problems have [their own guide](https://www.grokbotwiki.com/guides/grok-bot-sign-in-error-windows), and [How to use Grok Bot](https://www.grokbotwiki.com/guides/getting-started) covers the first steps after installing.

## Where official pages disagree

Some official pages lag behind. When we checked on October 25, the FAQ on x.ai/bot still said to use Grok Bot on desktop (macOS or Windows) or your phone with the iOS app, although the same page's More downloads list includes Linux and Android. Cursor's Grok Bot docs page, which on October 11 named iOS but not Android, now says macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android, matching Cursor's mobile help. The docs.x.ai FAQ, mobile page and getting-started page list Linux, Android and iPad. The x.ai/bot list, as we checked it on October 7, names Windows x64 only, while the docs and Cursor's download page also offer Arm64. We follow docs.x.ai and the download pages.

## Quick answers

### Does Grok Bot run on Windows 10?

The More downloads list on x.ai/bot, checked October 7, 2026, offers the Windows build for Windows 10 and 11 (x64). The docs list Windows x64 and Arm64 builds but no minimum Windows version, and Cursor's download page also offers an Arm64 installer.

### Is there a Grok Bot app for iPad?

Yes. The docs say the iOS app also runs on iPad with iPadOS 18 or later. Install Grok Bot from the App Store on the iPad and sign in with the same Cursor account.

### Does Grok Bot work on Linux?

Yes. Linux builds are published with every stable release for x64 and Arm64, as a .deb package for Debian and Ubuntu, an .rpm for Fedora and RHEL, or an AppImage. They are under More downloads on x.ai/bot and on Cursor's download page. Hardware security keys are not yet supported on Linux, and the desktop notifications that replace phone alerts on Mac and Windows do not apply on Linux. The changelog entry of October 11 (0.69.0 to 0.70.2) fixes a Linux problem: the app now stays responsive and can quit while a notification is showing.

### Is there a web version of Grok Bot?

Not in the docs we checked, which list only the desktop and mobile apps. A shared template link opens a preview on x.ai, but the docs say you need the Grok Bot app to finish adding it.

### Is the Grok Bot app the same as the Grok app?

No. Grok Bot has its own store listings, which the docs link: Grok Bot on the App Store and ai.x.grok.bot on Google Play. The Grok chatbot app is a separate download, so check the name before installing. The Grok app has its own Bots section, but a Cursor staff member said on October 11 that it currently works only with a SuperGrok subscription; with a Cursor plan, use the Grok Bot apps.

### How do I update Grok Bot on Linux?

Settings → Updates → Check for Updates works on every desktop. When the app says Update required on Linux, Cursor's help says it may show a command instead: sudo apt update && sudo apt install --only-upgrade grok-bot on Debian or Ubuntu, or sudo dnf upgrade --refresh grok-bot on Fedora and other RPM systems. Since 0.71.2 (October 14), the Update required screen on .deb and .rpm installs links the latest package. Then restart Grok Bot.

### Does closing the app stop my Bots?

No. Bot work runs on the cloud computer, and the FAQ says closing the app, laptop or phone does not stop a background turn or a routine. The apps are clients for that computer.
