## The verdict

Pick Grok Bot if you want a small team of named, long-lived Bots that keep logins and files on one always-on cloud computer and run on schedules. Pick ChatGPT Work if you already pay for ChatGPT and want finished documents, spreadsheets and presentations, a model picker, and tasks triggered by Gmail, Slack or GitHub. Pick Claude if you already pay for Claude and want one conversation that decides when to run a task, with each cloud task in its own temporary sandbox.

Two of the names people search for have changed. OpenAI's help center says ChatGPT agent is no longer available and points to ChatGPT Work. Anthropic announced on September 16, 2026 that Claude Cowork and chat are merging into one Claude, rolling out to Pro and Max first; its help center now adds Team (in beta) and Enterprise where an organization has turned on Chat and Cowork unified. This page compares the current products.

It is a documentation comparison. We have not run the same task in all three, and none of the vendors publishes usage allowances in comparable units, so there is no quality or cost-per-task ranking here. OpenAI's documentation now also describes dots, an always-on agent with its own cloud computer on the Pro 100, 200 and 500 plans outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland, and rolling out on Business Premium and Enterprise (off by default there until an administrator turns it on); [Grok Bot alternatives](https://www.grokbotwiki.com/guides/grok-bot-alternatives) covers it alongside Manus, Hermes Agent and OpenClaw.

## Pick Grok Bot if you want standing teammates

Grok Bot is built around Bots you keep: each has a name, a job, its own conversation and memory, and Bots run in parallel, message each other and share context in group chats. They all work on one persistent cloud computer, so a login you complete once is available to every Bot, and work continues when your laptop is closed.

That shared computer is also the caution. The docs say Bots on an account are not a security boundary: any Bot can use a session another Bot signed into, while isolation between users is strict. Access comes with The X Subscription from its Premium plan, or with an existing Cursor plan or linked SuperGrok or X Premium+ subscription, with a weekly allowance and optional paid extra usage, and Cursor chooses the model. [Our plan guide](https://www.grokbotwiki.com/guides/grok-bot-which-plan) covers which subscription to use.

October's releases moved Grok Bot closer to the other two on finished output. Since 0.75.2 (October 22) Bots can build Pages, such as reports, memos and dashboards, that you edit together or have the Bot keep up to date, and create videos from a description or an image. Since 0.75.5 (October 23) they can save your logins, cards and contact details to a Vault in Settings to sign in or check out, pay with Shop Pay, and forward an email from their own inbox with its attachments. Bots can now use up to 200 skills from installed plugins, and routines can run up to 300 times an hour in total. A saved card sits on the same shared computer as everything else, so decide which Bot should ever check out before you save one.

## Pick ChatGPT Work if you want finished deliverables

OpenAI describes Work as an agent for longer, multi-step work: it can research a topic, analyze information, or create a document, spreadsheet, presentation, report or Site. You pick the model, GPT-6 Astra for the most demanding work, GPT-6.1 Sol for complex work at lower cost, or Luna for simpler tasks; Work follows the same usage structure as Codex, and Codex sits beside it in the desktop app for software work. Event-triggered tasks can start from a new Gmail message, a Slack channel message or GitHub pull request activity, on Plus and higher plans.

Work can run in the cloud, which suits scheduled research because your computer need not be awake, or in the desktop app, where it can use local files, apps and the browser with your permission. With sync turned on, a new task can continue across desktop, mobile and web and still reach approved local resources through a connected computer; if that computer is unavailable, an eligible task continues in a cloud container without access to it. If you used ChatGPT agent before, its help article now says it is no longer available and points to Work.

## Pick Claude if you want one conversation that decides

In the new Claude experience you ask in any conversation and Claude decides whether a request needs a quick answer or a task, which it can run in the cloud and hand back as documents, spreadsheets or presentations. Anthropic's architecture overview says each cloud session gets its own sandbox, created when the session starts and destroyed when it ends, that it cannot reach private network addresses, and that connector tokens never enter it. Tasks that use files or apps on your computer need Claude Desktop open. Scheduled tasks keep their cadence while your computer is asleep, unless a task needs local files or apps, in which case it runs only locally.

Anthropic says Cowork is on Claude Desktop for macOS, Windows and Linux (beta) on all paid plans (Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise), on web and mobile for Pro, Max and Team (in beta on Team), and for Enterprise when an owner enables it; the Chrome side panel is on all paid plans. The merged experience is rolling out gradually to Pro and Max, and is available on Team (in beta) and Enterprise where Chat and Cowork unified is turned on; accounts that move over cannot switch back to separate Chat and Cowork options.

## Test them on the same task

If you are choosing between two of these, give each the same frozen document and the same brief, score the results against an answer key you wrote first, and record setup time, run time, review time and the usage each run consumed. Keep logins and connectors out of the first run so you compare the agents, not your integrations. [Our OpenClaw comparison](https://www.grokbotwiki.com/guides/grok-bot-vs-openclaw) has the full protocol and a copyable brief.

## Changes to this page

October 29, 2026: rechecked every source we could fetch. x.ai/bot, x.ai/pricing, the Grok Bot changelog, chatgpt.com/pricing and OpenAI's help center refused our automated check, so those claims were not rechecked today. Added cursor.com/pricing's usage multiples (4x, 15x and 50x Plus) next to the x.ai/bot figures we read earlier; Anthropic's September 16 post now carries an October 23 update saying the merged Claude is generally available for Enterprise; OpenAI's dots page now lists Enterprise as rolling out, off by default. The other cited Grok Bot, Cursor, OpenAI and Anthropic pages matched.

October 25, 2026: x.ai/bot now shows The X Subscription plans, so Super ($100, 3.5x Premium usage) and Ultra ($200, 12x) were added. Added a finished-output row (Grok Bot Pages and video creation from 0.75.2), the 300-runs-an-hour routine limit and inbox-triggered routines, and the Vault, Shop Pay and email forwarding from 0.75.5. Rechecked Anthropic's help center, blog and pricing: Cowork desktop now includes Linux (beta), the Chrome side panel is on all paid plans, Team gets the merged Claude in beta and Enterprise where Chat and Cowork unified is on, and Team Standard is $25 a seat monthly or $20 billed annually; those rows and the FAQ were updated. OpenAI's pricing docs now say Work is on every plan; the price cell was reworded. OpenAI's help center again refused our automated check, so the ChatGPT agent retirement and event-trigger details still rest on our September 23 reading.

October 14, 2026: updated Grok Bot's entry price for The X Subscription, launched October 12, which includes Grok Bot from its $30 Premium plan; existing Cursor and SuperGrok plans continue. OpenAI and Anthropic pages were not rechecked.

October 11, 2026: rechecked every vendor page we could reach. OpenAI's ChatGPT Work docs now name GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and Luna in the picker and describe Work Cloud sync, and its pricing docs list Go at $8 and a $500 Pro tier; Claude's help center now lists web and mobile Cowork for Team and a Chrome side panel rolling out to Pro; Anthropic says Team and Free plans follow Pro and Max into the merged Claude. Cursor's plan page lists X Premium+ as a linkable subscription. OpenAI's help center and chatgpt.com/pricing refused our automated check, so the ChatGPT agent retirement and event-trigger details rest on our September 23 reading of those pages.

## Quick answers

### Is ChatGPT agent still available?

No. OpenAI's help article for ChatGPT agent now says it is no longer available and points to ChatGPT Work for longer, multi-step tasks and finished deliverables, and to the cloud browser for supported browser workflows.

### Is Claude Cowork gone?

It is being folded into Claude. Anthropic announced on September 16, 2026 that Cowork and chat are merging into one Claude, rolling out to Pro and Max plans over several weeks, with Team and Free plans to follow, and promised Enterprise admins at least 30 days' notice before anything changes; an October 23 update to that post says the unified experience is now generally available for Claude Enterprise. Its help center now says the merged experience is rolling out to Pro and Max, and is available on Team plans (in beta) and Enterprise plans where the Chat and Cowork unified setting is turned on; it does not mention Free. In the new experience there is no Cowork mode to pick: you ask in any conversation.

### Which of the three is cheapest?

By entry price, Grok Bot now comes with The X Subscription's Premium plan at $30 a month (legacy Cursor Pro subscribers at $20 keep it), with Super at $100 and Ultra at $200 for 3.5 and 12 times Premium's usage according to x.ai/bot (cursor.com/pricing puts the three tiers at 4, 15 and 50 times Plus usage), and Claude Pro is $20 billed monthly. OpenAI's pricing docs say Work is included on every plan, with Free and Go ($8 a month) listing GPT-6 Luna at standard speed in the desktop app, and Plus at $20. None of the three publishes its allowance in comparable units, so there is no honest cost-per-task comparison; run the same task in each and read the usage meter.

### Can I bring my ChatGPT or Cowork setup into Grok Bot?

There is no official importer in the Grok Bot docs. The official Marketplace lists Import Bot, a third-party template by Shub Gaur that says it brings setups from Claude Cowork, Codex, ChatGPT, OpenClaw and Hermes into Grok Bot. We have not tested it. Moving the written brief by hand always works.

### Which one is the most secure?

They draw the boundary in different places. Grok Bot gives each user one dedicated cloud computer, isolated from other users, that all of that user's Bots share, so Bots are not a boundary from each other. Claude runs each cloud session in its own temporary sandbox that never holds connector tokens. ChatGPT Work relies on approvals for important actions plus workspace permission controls. In all three, the permissions you grant matter more than the product.
