The short version
Grok Bot shipped seven releases between September 29 and October 7, 2026, versions 0.63.0 to 0.68.1. The changes most people will notice: Marketplace is now Connect Apps and Bot templates moved to the web, the app updates itself by default, a starred primary Bot can offer to take work, and Bots can send from a Gmail send-as address.
This page summarizes the official changelog in plain English and says what each change means in practice. The wording of each change is SpaceXAI's; the impact notes are ours, and we have not tested the features. We update this page at the start of each month; the next edition will cover October as a whole.

Connect Apps replaces Marketplace in the app
The in-app Marketplace changed in three steps. On September 26 (0.60.0) its sidebar button became Connect apps. On September 29 (0.63.0) it started focusing on plugins: Featured Bots and Bot search results no longer appear, and the search box reads Search plugins. On October 2 (0.67.0) the changelog says Marketplace is now Connect Apps, with category chips under the search, Recommended for you first, and Bot templates on the web.
In practice: install and authenticate plugins from Connect Apps, and find Bot templates on the web Marketplace or through a share link. Adding a plugin that needs a sign-in, such as Gmail, now starts that sign-in right away (0.63.0), and since 0.68.0 the command palette also finds plugins. Our plugins, connectors and MCP guide explains how the pieces fit.

The app now updates itself
Version 0.65.0 turned Automatic Updates on by default: Grok Bot restarts to apply an update while you are away, and you can turn that off in Settings → Updates. Version 0.66.0 made update downloads resume after your computer sleeps, and on a Mac a copy running from a disk image or the Downloads folder now offers Move to Applications. Since 0.67.0, Stop in Settings stops every running chat so a pending update can go ahead.
This is the desktop app. Grok Bot's cloud computer has its own Update control in Settings → Updates, and the troubleshooting advice in our not-responding guide still applies to it.

A primary Bot that offers to help
Version 0.66.0 introduces proactivity for your primary Bot, the one marked with a star: it will now spot work it can take off your plate and offer to handle it. The note says it needs Grok Bot 0.59.0 or later. Version 0.68.0 adds that Team Bots no longer appear in the primary Bot picker and cannot be a primary Bot.
An offer is not an action; check what it proposes the same way you would check any new task, especially anything that sends, buys or deletes. Our guide to permission boundaries has a short worksheet for that.

Email: send-as, formatting and fewer Gmail failures
Version 0.68.0 lets email drafts go out from a verified Gmail send-as address, with a From picker when you have more than one, and Gmail draft cards now include your signature. Version 0.68.1 lets Bots send formatted emails from a draft card, search your Gmail Spam folder and move a message back to the inbox, and says Gmail actions fail less often: send and reply no longer report a missing tool, and Bots wait out Google's rate limits.
Version 0.64.0 added a switch on email and Slack draft cards, Disable drafts for this Bot, after which that Bot sends messages directly. Leave drafts on for anything you have not watched the Bot do correctly several times; you can ask the Bot to turn drafts back on. Our Gmail and Google Workspace guide covers setup and the known issues.

Team Bots: managers, Slack approvals and voice
Team Bots arrived in 0.61.0 on September 26, and SpaceXAI announced them on September 28 as a public beta on Teams and Enterprise plans. The October releases fill in gaps. In Slack threads, a Team Bot that needs your approval posts a Review an action card only you can answer (0.63.0). The creator of a published Team Bot can add Managers who can change its profile, skills, plugins, secrets and Slack app (0.64.0). Teammates can start a voice chat with a Team Bot (0.65.0). A Team Bot can mention a Slack user group, while @here and @channel still do not ping anyone, and it stays quiet on untagged replies that do not need it (0.68.1).
Our Team Bots guide covers setup, Slack and admin controls.

Reliability fixes worth knowing about
Several fixes change what you see when something goes wrong. Since 0.63.0, using up your plan's included usage shows the usage limit notice instead of Bot failed to respond, and Settings → Usage & Billing shows your included usage and when it resets. Since 0.66.0, a Bot that hangs on an unresponsive command or computer stops itself with a note, and your next message picks up where it left off. In 0.68.1, Stop or a new message ends a Bot stuck on an unresponsive step within about 30 seconds, and the Bot's browser recovers from a crashed tab and gives up on a stuck page after 25 seconds.
Version 0.68.1 also gives the Bot's computer a 1920 × 1200 screen, up from 1280 × 800, and says Secure Forms fill into the page the Bot has open. Its notes do not mention the October 5 forum report of a password filled by the Secure Form appearing in a page snapshot, so we still advise typing passwords on the screen yourself.

Earlier in September: Projects, Grok 4.7 and Team Bots
Three September releases set up much of the above. Version 0.57.0 (September 18) lets a Bot start a Project when you ask for one: a Cloud Agent that plans the work and runs its own agents. On September 21 SpaceXAI announced Grok 4.7, saying it was trained to natively understand the Grok Bot harness; the announcement lists availability in Cursor and Grok Build and does not say Grok Bot switched to it. Version 0.61.0 (September 26) introduced Team Bots, with SpaceXAI's announcement two days later.

Quick answers
Where did Bot templates go in the Grok Bot app?
Out of the app. Version 0.63.0 (September 29) narrowed the in-app Marketplace to plugins, so Featured Bots and Bot search results stopped appearing there. Version 0.67.0 (October 2) renamed it Connect Apps and moved Bot templates to the web, where the Marketplace at x.ai/bot/marketplace still lists them. Our Marketplace and templates guide covers the add step.
What is a primary Bot?
The Bot marked with a star in your sidebar. The 0.66.0 changelog (October 2) says your primary Bot will now spot work it can take off your plate and offer to handle it. Since 0.68.0, Team Bots cannot be a primary Bot. The changelog does not say how a primary Bot is chosen, so check the star in your own sidebar.
How do I turn off automatic updates?
In Settings → Updates. Version 0.65.0 (September 30) turned Automatic Updates on by default, so Grok Bot restarts to apply an update while you are away. Turning it off means you install updates yourself from the same screen.
Does Grok Bot use Grok 4.7?
SpaceXAI has not said so. Its September 21 announcement says Grok 4.7 was trained to natively understand the Grok Bot harness, and lists it as available in Cursor and Grok Build. A Cursor staff member wrote the same day that Grok Bot does not have a model picker and Cursor does not publish which model it is serving; the docs say the serving mix can change.
Is the Secure Form password problem fixed?
Not confirmed when we checked on October 7. Version 0.68.1 changed where Secure Forms fill, but its notes do not mention the October 5 report of a password appearing in a page snapshot. Until Cursor confirms a fix, type passwords on the Bot's screen yourself; see our shared-computer guide.
